Just got done listening to all the clips. I was not impressed at all with what I heard other than the title clip. From what I can tell, there is a HUGE void with Billy Powell no longer on the keys which I was very afraid of. The lyrics of the songs seem very bland at best. The guitars don't sound classic Skynyrd. I think this band really misses Ed King not only for his guitar talents but also for his writing ability. No offense to Sparky but he he would have to be the one to step aside to get Ed back into the mix.
I'd like to see Skynyrd continue to perform and record but something needs to change. These songs don't appear to be classic quality Skynyrd. For starters, get "John 5" out of the picture. I cant believe this guy is helping Skynyrd write and perform these songs on this album. His guitar style is very heavy as can be heard on the clips. I really thought the John 5 experiment would be put to rest after the God and Guns album but for some reason he his back.
I dunno...maybe its just time for Gary and Johnny to hang it up. The last thing that needs to happen is to hurt the classic Skynyrd legacy and reputation that has been built through the years. I just cant imagine Ronnie, Allen, Steve or Leon performing any of the tunes that I hear from the clips. I know today's Skynyrd is no comparison to Skynyrds music of the 70's but I had hoped that the sound would stay as close as possible to the classic sound if they were to continue on. Sadly I'm not hearing any hint of the classic sound on those clips and that really saddens me.
