Many years ago back in Florida when the band was first starting out. They used to practice in an old farm house at the end of a sand road. There was one way in and one way out. So the local authorities in their efforts to snuff out the "good time" that the upstarting band was trying to have, they would park at the end of that road hoping to catch the young artists in a compromised situation. At this point in time a young man enamored with the "swamp rock" music, became a regular face at the house. His willingness to run his small motorcycle through the swamps and woods for refreshments and whatever else the young band members wanted, earned him the name "the motorcycle kid" by Ronnie. The young mans name was David M Morrison. He was my uncle. He loved to tell the stories of listening to the guys play music and laugh and have a good time. It was one of the greatest moments of his life. He cried and mourned the loss of the plane crash as though it were his own family way back when. I write this now just to make sure his story goes in in the hearts of others. On July 2nd 2013 at 8:41pm a "free bird" left this world to meet up and be with his loved ones and friends that have gone on before him. Rest in piece "Motorcycle Kid". And thank you to the band for giving him this amazing experience as a young boy. Something he never forgot.
