Oct 1977. I was 16 years old and had already worn the grooves through my 3-day old copy of street surviviros. the band had been scheduled to play in cleveland that forthcoming december. I was primed with excited anticipation of seeing my heroes live. we all know too well what happened.
a part of me died that day as well. we can only dream of what could have been, our higher power only allows us mortals to know so little about life and our short time here. so we fondly reflect, remember and imagine, to keep their memories and music alive. just sittin here listening and watching old footage, sad and smiling at the same time. god, i can't beleive it's been 32 years; it seems like it was yesterday. the hole in my heart left behind on that day still hasn't healed completely. god bless gary, johnny, rickey, judy and all the rest for keeping the tradition and legacy alive and rockin. fantastic new album guys, congrats on a job well done.
to ronnie, steve, cassie, dean, allen, leon, billy, lacy, hughie, ean, duane , berry and all the rest in the great beyond too numerous to mention, may the great spirit bless you and keep you in loving eternal rest.
if i leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?
absolutely!
won't you fly high....
