Whats the farthest ya ever drove to see a lynyrd skynyrd show? I drove almost 4 hours by myself in a geo metro 3 cylynder suzuki motor one time and sat in major chicago construction and regular traffic and i -80 traffic indiana traffic and got to indiana show off i -65 in the nick of time great show though Gary sported a stratocaster in that show for real..... Another time was like 3 hour drive to a casino and once i flew like 1000 miles ect to jacksonville to attend the remembering freebirds tribute at the park by jacksonville jaguars stadium and st johns river and got to see all the lynyrd skynyrd hangouts and childhood homes and the high school and baseball diamond where it all started in a tour escorted by Gene Odem . I thank the folks who orginized that tribute and all the bands and folks that showed up great memorize It was announced a little later that lynyrdskynyrd was to play lakeland florida that same time and there were other skynyrd frynds gatherings at judy van zants hotel and freebird cafe on 1ave by jax beach so it was like a florida lynyrd skynyrd rememerence all over the place bands tributing and folks playing and talking lynyrd skynyrd all over the place . It was a great time Its amazing how all the different places and different folks had different opinions and some argued over the others gathering or old band versus new or one group was cutting down the others gathering its a shame that ALL couldnt have got togeather IN ONE SPOT and had the Lynyrd Skynyrd band close the show for one big Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute show in other words ALL those bands and folks in one spot for a Jacksonville or some other Florida or georgia location Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute kinda like a lynyrd skynyrd sturgis get togeather. http://fansofskynyrd.proboards.com/index.cgi |

@prez. rusty: lol...not sure what rf is measuring there prez, but outside of that trip I would say 14 hours to Virginia from Ohio. What you do for yourself dies with you, but what you do for others can live on forever. |

17 hours from Maryland to Tampa last summer. Ok, so I was heading there for a family vacation anyway. Don't I get some points? Got freaking polluted and then walked over and gambled at the Indian casino across the way (quarter slots, I'm cheap). Looked like a bunch of red necks swarmed the casino at once and headed over to the cheeseburger and freedom fries line. Funny as shit! Skynyrd Forever, Forever Skynyrd! 2007: MA - Tampa, FL with Hank Jr., 38 Special. Hell of a show!!! But then again I flew to Orlando and rented a car to Tampa. 2009: MA to NYC for the God & Guns cd release show at the Beacon. Other than that is usually MA to NH, CT, RI, ME. I'm not dead, at least not yet, Still Alone, Still Alive, STILL UNBROKEN.... |
