Hey New on Here. I love Lynryd Skynrd, possible my favourite band ever but have really only discovered them recently. They are the go to band in the car or on the I Pod. What other similar bands are there you can suggest i might enjoy listening too? I like the Southern Rock Influence and often listen to CCR as well. Thanks DF |

Well to start off with why not the recent cd "God & Guns". Then work your way back. Then to stay in the Southern Rock category.... 38 Special, Molly Hatchet, MTB, CDB, Allman Bros, ZZ Top, The Outlaw's, Rossington Collins.... That should get you started.... I'm sure you'll get some more... And your best bet is Itunes for finding some of this, because Wal Mart, Best But etc.... have limited selections. I'm not dead, at least not yet, Still Alone, Still Alive, STILL UNBROKEN.... |

Welcome to Skynyrd Nation..might I add... I'd also go with.....Blackfoot,the group,...which one of the current guitarists is from..Album would be..." STRIKES"....with the songs.." Train,Train"....Left Turn on a red light,I gotta line on your babe and the long but great.." Highway Song"..!!! as for the other groups mentioned...the OUTLAWS aka " Guitar Army...used to haev 3 lead guitarists and two drummers back in the 80's but still touring today...their former lead guitarist, Hughie, The Flame,Thomasson used to play with Skynyrd until a couple years ago...RIP...!!!! of the outlaws album go with...." Hurry Sundown,..Ghost Riders in the sky,.....and the All time Favorite...........GREEN GRASS and High Tides.........Forever......in concert that would last 28mins or so..... As for Skynyrd songs..whew....Gimme Three Steps,Simpleman,..Swamp Music..Ballad of Curtis lowe.....38special...........T- for Texas......That Smell.....and overcourse " FREEBIRD.!!! many good Video versions are to be found on youtube...i have a good sample of that on my site there....shameless plug..hehehe......http://www.youtube.com/user/007thefuture?feature=mhum..... But, there is so much great old and new Skynyrd music why would you need to listen to anything else? :) |

....lynyrd skynyrd "with rock attitude ," allman bros "with blues attitude , "wet willie" with soul attitude, "marshall tucker band " with country attitude , " atlanta rythm section", with pop attitude, "sea level" with easy listenin attitude.....they are the best in 70.....now j love "blackberry smoke."...... |

Definitely the Allman Brothers. Skynyrd's definitely my #1, but the bros are #2. Also nobody's mentioned them but the Doobies are awesome too...saw them and Skynyrd together a couple years ago and it was an awesome show. |

For a "newer" band.........check out Blackberry Smoke!!!! They are going to carry the torch on for Southern Rock music. Ain't nothing sweeter than a Southern girl! |
