Story Of My "Freebird Banner"
October 14, 2009 9:39:57 AM UTC Post #11

@Sweet Home AL Sara: my "Freebird Celebration" is always held on the closest saturday to the 20th, which means this years will be this saturday the 17th. i do have a frynd here in Tooele Utah, (which is a small lil town 30 miles west of Salt Lake City) he's from Alabama originally, I'll have to ask him how long it took him recently, to get back home for his fathers funeral. or, you could do a google or mapquest search from your place to Tooele, it's be a close estimate. hope that helps. mike (feel free to email me at feats@wirelessbeehive.com .) yup, "feats" for the band "Little Feat".

IF I LEAVE HERE TOMORROW, WOULD YOU STILL REMEMBER ME?

To all the skynyrd Nation, on the last website, I had posted a blog trying to see if we could, as a collective, the entire Nation, do "Freebird Celebrations" accross the country and then we could all post our pics and stories of how we showed our own appreciation for a band that has endured so very much, all for the love of the music, us fans, and the faith of the founders. there's still time to plan and get yours going! keep the faith!

@mcskynyrd: I looked it up......26 hour drive. My father-in-law is a pilot. If he was going to be in town this weekend, I would seriously consider asking him to fly me there. I hope that you will give us all an update on your special Freebird Celebration. I would love to read about the frynds that came to celebrate with you.
Take care & know that a Skynyrd fan from a small town in Alabama will be thinking about you on Saturday. I'll spend time listening to "Freebird" & remembering my brother's life and how Skynyrd music keeps him alive in my heart and how it also connects my daughter to an uncle that she will never know in this life.

Your Freebird Celebrations must be great ! Keep on doin' them, the Skynyrd Spirit is so much more than music : never tamed & still unbroken ! I have no LS frynds in my family, neighbourhood or little town where I live, not one ! (my son only accepts Gretchen Wilson when it's about Suthyn Music, no Van Zant voices for him, although he's almost as Redneck as them without realising it ...) So this board means alot to me, ya know .
