Set List From Birmingham, AL Show
June 19, 2010 4:03:41 AM UTC Post #1

I saw an AWESOME show last night in Birmingham.
-Opened with 38 Special. Always a crowd pleaser!!
-Brett Michaels did a great job!! He paid so much tribute to Skynyrd throughout his show. He was a perfect lead-in for Skynyrd. Brett had the crowd on their feet the entire time. During the middle of his song, "Something To Believe In", he pulled a young vet up on the stage. He stopped the song and told how he had met the guy before the show. The guy was a double amputee. The crowd went wild & I think many tears were shed during that moment. He let the vet stay with him on stage when he started the song back--even let him sing with him on the chorus. For anyone who had doubts/concerns about Brett touring with Skynyrd........all I can say is that if you were at the show last night, you would have become a "Believer"!!!!!

*Skynyrd was not stop action & excitement. Johnny paid tribute to Billy & Ean, and just as the show I saw last summer with Kid Rock, they had a large screen that rolled the names and pictures of all of their fallen family members.
*I have lots of pics to share--I just know that I will need help from Lynskyn1981. My "computer guru" will surely make a posting for me!! HA!!
-Skynyrd Set List:
Working for MCA
I Ain't the One
Skynyrd Nation

*All I Can Do Is Write It In A Song (Special song played over the PA)

Sara, nice story about how Bret opened the show. I've been pretty vocal about my concerns, this is the type of story that warms me up a bit. Still unsure, but this story certainly makes me feel better about the guy.

Regarding the setlist, no Gimme Back or Saturday Night? They didn't play those in Salisbury last year either, but they did in Tampa. Can't recall if they did or did not in VA. Can't help being a little disappointed when they don't play those rockin' classics.

It would be such a treat if they played Roll Gypsy Roll and Southern Ways live on July 9! Here's to hoping!!!

Medway, I'm with you on All I Can Do...... I sooooo love that song. I'll be listening to that and Every Mothers Son next Saturday as I me and my family make a stop at the RVZ Memorial Park. And yes, Southern Ways will be set to play in a loop all they way from Maryland to Jacksonville, my wife will be ready to kill me by Richmond.

Skynyrd Forever, Forever Skynyrd!

"Everything that comes after that, comes after that," Jimmy D.
(quote taken out of context but works all the same.)

Skynyrd Forever, Forever Skynyrd!

"Everything that comes after that, comes after that."

@medwaysimpleman: No, they didn't play the song. I hope that you have a great time at the show in a couple of weeks.

@Maryland4Dixie:

If you're referring to the Skynyrd-Kid Rock show last year in VA on August 7th, they did play Saturday Night Special.

It was the 2nd song they played, right after "Skynyrd Nation"

"I've seen a lot of people who thought they were cool...
...But then again, I've seen a lot of fools"

It was the same set list in Charlotte on Saturday night.

38, Bret Michaels and Skynyrd all three rocked!!!!!!!! It was an awesome show.
