RIP My Beloved Husband :>
July 23, 2012 3:20:44 AM UTC Post #1

You may think I am a crazy woman, but I have a simple request..... My beloved, hard working husband of almost 13 years recently passed away. On April 2, 2012 he was diagnosed with pneumonia. On April 17, 2012 he was notified by his doctor they had found cancer. By May 1, 2012 he was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer. I must mention, my husband did not smoke; yet he welded in confined areas all over the world for over 16 years. On June 28, 2012 he passed away in my arms. He left behind myself (wife), a step-son (22) and daughter (11). Here is part of his obituary:

"David Charles Carroll, 42 of Sioux City, Iowa was welcomed with open arms by his Lord & Savior, family and friends following a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
David was born Monday, March 30, 1970 in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada, to Gerald L.Carroll and Diane (Purgett) Bogenrief. He grew up and attended school in International Falls, MN graduating in 1988. In 1993 he moved to Sioux City. He later met Andrea Beaubien and the couple wed on Aug. 28, 1999 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix. He worked for Philips Kiln in South Sioux City, NE as a “Kiln Doctor” (Welder). David was a hard worker and well thought of by his co-workers.
David loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors, fishing, swimming, golfing, riding his Harley. He enjoyed sitting around having a “Bud” with his Buds watching the Stanley Cup, the Vikings, Nascar, and his DVD Concerts. David was easygoing and laidback, and a selfless provider to his family. He lived his life just like his favorite song “Simple Man”."

My request: When you guys play in Sioux City, IA on August 10, 2012, would you mind dedicating "Simple Man" to Dave Carroll of Sioux City, IA? I know he will be listening from "up above". He is the one who introduced me to Skynrd and I thank him for that. I can tell you he lived his life like the songs of Lynyrd Skynrd: "Simple Man", "Freebird", "Hard Working Man", "Red, White, and Blue", etc. He was a man who could shoot the shit with the best of them while sitting down drinking a few beers.

I thank you for your time. I wish you could have met him, because I know you guys would have enjoyed sitting down having a cold one together.

Again Thanks,
Mrs. David Carroll (Andrea Carroll)
