Hey Skynyrd Nation!
I was watching pawn stars today on History Channel and a guy came in to the shop and had one of Ronnie's beaver hats! He said he was at a concert in august of 77 and was invited backstage by a roadie. RVZ took off the hat, put it on this lucky guys head and said "how bout that". It was beautiful! Rick (owner of pawn shop) offered him $10,000 for it and the guy wouldn't budge below $20,000. To me it is priceless. Anyway, enjoy labor day skynyrd nation! GOD BLESS THE USA

I don't think the Guy is being truthful.
Here is why-
1. why would Ronnie give anyone his Hat?
2. Would he write his Name in it?
3. Why no Box?
Ronnie did love his Fans, but ,That is an expensive Hat.Donnie Van Zant has one, someone ask him if Ronnie wrote his Name in it.
Sure-The guy was probably Backstage at a Show.Maybe it's me,but if Ronnie had given me that Hat,
I would have taken waay better care of it.Not knowing the accident Date-saying october 21-
I think I'd know that-He could have gotten that Hat at a Garage Sale.Texas Hatters made a lot of them. That's my 2 Cents.

@RossingtonRules: Hey RR, I totally agree! Plus if it was his hat, a real skynyrd fan would just treasure it and PUT IT IN A BOX.

Well, to me, something does not ring true about how he got the Hat-even if it IS one of Ronnie's,why is the Guy Wearing it?
He should have taken much better care of it for sure,IF it's Ronnie's.I saw the episode on on demand-it's called out of gas-it is also on history.comI seem to recall someone from the Band saying that most of the stuff you see on ebay was stolen, and to me that begs the question, why didn't he sell it on ebay?I think I would have had someone take a photo of Ronnie giving me the hat-but that's just me, I suppose.Like they said on Pawn stars, all this Guy has , is a Story.

Texas Hatters, The Manufacturer of the hat, confirmed a couple weeks ago that it is in fact Ronnies Hat. I believed him from the start because Ronnie Van Zant was made into the hat. Also the backstage pass he had was August, 29th 1977. I looked at the date on my records and indeed that show was in Las Vegas, Nevada. However the hat was in rough shape for such an incredible piece of music history.

Well I am sure it was Ronnie's hat...but that doesn't erase the fact that the Moron who has it didn't take good care of it lol
those Things come with boxes.I would have taken good care of it-but,that's just me,and I'd never even think about selling it if I had one..Ronnie was so funny lol Think about it- walkin around with a beaver on his head... lmao.

I got to meet Ronnie @ an after party in Chico, Ca. after a gig @ Chico St. University where LS opened for Marshall Tucker in the spring of '74 and all I got was one memorable evening. I spent most of the party sittin' on a couch with Ronnie on my right and Tommy Caldwell on my left and a bottle of Beam's Choice goin' back n forth between us. The one thing that I remember Ronnie sayin' to Tommy was, next year....you'll be openin' for us! At that point I was worried the fur was about to fly so I headed for the door and this dude asked if I was headed downtown and would I mind givin' him a lift. It was Tucker's Jerry Eubanks and he assured me that Ronnie n Tommy were buds no matter how much smack they talked. Just one of those nights....I'll never forget.
