Technically Skynyrd is one entity...one band...one family, but some out there have classified Skynyrd as "old" skynyrd and "new" skynyrd. So for the sake of making sense in this post, we'll use their logic.

I've always wanted Skynyrd (the "new" Skynyrd) to make a double cd set of their "old" Skynyrd days - but in STUDIO. Love the live ones, but would love to hear studio versions. This post is a list of songs you would love Skynyrd to put on that cd.

The Heavy Metal Band ANTHRAX did it when Jon Bush was the vocalist and he and the "new" Anthrax did a new cd with many of the songs Joey Belladonna and crew did with the "old" ANTHRAX. (Old ANTHRAX hits - check out the cd "Madhouse"; "new" ANTHRAX covers of those songs - "The Greater of Two Evils") (was also double cd)...

So if anyone has a close tie to the band, maybe suggest this? So everyone, if you can, list the songs you'd love to see on the double cd. (Figure that the first cd contains roughly 13-14 songs) (2nd cd is usually about 8 songs)...

It wouldn't have to be in that specific order, but I'd love to see a double cd STUDIO wise of those songs :-D

I think this would be a good idea for most any of the Ronnie-era Skynyrd songs - Johnny-era Skynyrd has done a lot with new studio material, and live releases of songs from both eras, but not much with studio versions of the older stuff.
(The _Twenty_ version of Travelin' Man, the _Vicious Cycle_ version of Gimme Back My Bullets, the acoustics on Endangered Species - less-altered versions of these?) [not that they're bad]

Heck, maybe redo the original albums in order.

Since LPs have a lot less running time than CDs, you could likely fit two LPs worth onto one CD.

Disc 1: Pronounced/Second Helping
Disc 2: Nuthin' Fancy/Gimme Back My Bullets
Disc 3: Street Survivors

Disc 3 leaves some space that could be used for some early Skynyrd songs not on the main albums. (Travelin' Man, Was I Right Or Wrong?, Four Walls Of Raiford, etc.)

This thread reminds me of a comment on an Iron Maiden YouTube video wishing the current Bruce Dickinson lineup would put out some studio versions of songs form the Paul Di'Anno era; I'm not as well-versed in ANTHRAX, but I suppose that example works too.

As much as I would like to hear Johnny sing all the songs (and I think he's right on par with Ronnie (obviously no one can touch Ronnie - not Lennon, not Morrison, etc...)) but I think just having ~25 songs on 2 cds would be great enough.

I'm quite the completist though, so I went right for the gusto. :)

Cotten Mouth Country would be great as well. I think Jonnie could really pull it off. This would be one a lot of people hadn't heard before either.

They've had decades to do that. And why would they Want to?
That is a Can of worms I bet they don't open.I can see it now a whole new old / new band comparison and or argument.
I just feel as though , if they were going to do that, it would have been done by now.
