@RossingtonRules: I was livin in Seneca, Mo. at that tyme. I remember listinin to second helping cranked up on tha 8 track!! I still remember how we took over tha town, nuthinfancy and I was standin in line at that grocery store just outside tha main gate when tha crowd rushed tha store and broke out tha window in front and raided tha store. Ya couldnt blame em, tha place was only lettin 4 people at a tyme in tha store and ther was about a thousand people waitin. Course we got tha hell outta there and went across tha street to tha pizza place , we waited in line fur about an hour and when we finally got in..... Tha place was filled with smoke, people were doin paper work on tha tables n pizza was flyin around like they were gonna quit makin it tomorrow. It was a moment in tyme I will never forget.......... Didnt get ta meet any of tha boys.... but we did get ta visit with Leslie West of Mountain for tha afternoon. WAT a cool guy he was!!!!
Lets hear a little of wat it was like fur you??........................................... rusty

LONG LIVE SKYNYRD NATION!!!

Oh man- we had waaaayy too much fun!
A buch of us got in an old VW Van and headed out -you think that pizza place was full of smoke-you shoulda been in that van!
Smelled like a Skunk-you know what i'm sayin'?
My maiden name was West and people who knew me were asking me if I was kin to leslie-lol-We were listening to that same 8-track-I still wonder why they cut freebird off on that thing-they sure did shorten that song to put it on there!
We partied all day and all night!!
I got Home 2 days after the show! -side tracked!
We decided afterwards to head to blackwater and Camp out.We had weed, and beer, and one guy with us had food stamps,so we got some Steaks! oh-and they let me drive at one point -I see these two Cars ahead-one in each lane -they were going slow, and talking to each other out the windows-going too slow for me- after all,we were on our way to see a Lynyrd Concert,so,I did what anyone else would do-I reckoned I had the room,so,I drove between them! Made it! We got to the concert, and they took the Car keys from me-Man we had so much fun on that trip.Anytime Lynyrd was around, you knew you were gonna have a blast!
Those were the Days,Rusty! Those were the days! Are we sure that was 1974? Seems like it was just yesterday..

And tha day Skynyrd played it was104 in tha shade( if ya could find any) It deffinatlly was a different tyme!!!! We stayed 4 days and partied with a few good CITIZENS , Do ya remember tha walkway tunnell into infield??
Talk about a PO PA REEEE !!!!! I hated tha stage tho ... a hunnard feet off tha ground.. If ya were up front all ya could see is tha top of thier heads, until they walked to tha edge of tha stage........ I wonder how many other citizens were there?? IF YA WAS SPEAK UP !!!!!!

Keep Rockin Frynd...................................................................... rusty

I've posted this in other sections, but, talking about 1974 brought me back to the first time I saw Skynyrd. They were opening for J. Geils here in Cincy at the Gardens. It was right before Second Helping was released. Nobody knew who they were. They made a good impression though and when I saw them two years later on the GBMB tour, they were headling with Santana and Ted Nugent opening for them. They were slated to play Cincy on Thanksgiving day 1977 but we all know what happened. The last time I saw them was a month before Leon died.
