Meet and Greet

Location: Troy, AL Posts: 9 Member #: 171,876 Joined: 08/20/2011	Has anyone been to one of Skynyrds meet and greets? Was it a pleasant experience? Were you given so many minutes to talk to each one? I hope they have a meet and greet when they come to Tuscsloosa in October.

Location: medway, ma Posts: 833 Member #: 23,167 Joined: 09/27/2009	My experience a few years back in CT wasn't really good... It was more of a picture with the band... I don't know who set it up or who was in charge but this was mine... First they bring you to an area by side of the stage... One person then gives you a list of all the things you CAN'T DO... Don't talk to them... Don't touch them... No pictures... No autographs... Once your picture is taken you have to leave, no hanging around... Now there was about maybe 6-8 people TOTAL!!! So it wasn't like there were tons of people that they needed to rush us through.. So I get up there, snap and had to leave... Now mind you the guys in the band especially Johnny and Gary were talking to you... Hey what's up, how's it going, just small talk but pretty cool.... But nope, snap and get out was the way it went down... Now although it wasn't what I expected and disappointed, the fact that you get to have your picture taken with them and be in there presence was WELL worth it... So GOOD LUCK... I'm not dead, at least not yet, Still Alone, Still Alive, STILL UNBROKEN....

Although it is a bummer, that is actually a pretty normal meet and greet experience for many artists, particularly country artists and those that offer the meet and greet prior to the show. Some artists only do group photos and don't actually take individual photos with the fans. Time is limited and there are sometimes different groups of meet and greet people - venue, fan clubs, radio, etc. Not all artists do this type of meet and greet, but some find it easier to manage, especially when you have artists that will talk and hang out all night if there are no limitations. I have been to both types of meet and greets, the experience of meeting them usually outweighs the downsides of the limitations of the 'quick' meet and greets. I have yet to meet the Skynyrd boys but, just to say hi would be more than enough for me.Well, maybe to sit quietly and listen to them tell stories all night and pick a few tunes would be the only better thing! ;) http://www.caewebdesigner.com

I went to see Jeff Bates at a concert in AL a few months ago. After the concert he came out to his tent and he hugged and signed everything the fans wanted him to. He took his time with his fans. I know Jeff is not as well known as Skynyrd but he was a real sweetheart.
