That's my point roadfatigue. I know what Gene is saying is off-base (esp. this whole notion Ronnie wanted to remove Gary from the band - I seriously doubt that; (and now I'm beginning to wonder if the whole "Ronnie was going to quit the band at the end of '77 and turn the reigns over to Johnny and become a country singer" line was true. Ronnie may have gone country at one point, but to leave Skynyrd when they exploded with Gaines joining...I wonder")).

Point is road, you're exactly right. As long as Skynyrd is around, I'll still go to their shows. Even when they hang it up, I'll still be listening. They aren't the greatest group to ever walk the face of the earth to me for no reason...

Gene can go complain with Judy Van Zant (who apparently also has a problem with Skynyrd still touring and together).

As long as they tour, I will see them as many times in year as possible.

A&E Biography ought to do a 4 part series on the history of Southern Rock (LS, BF, MH, Outlaws, CDB, ZZ, Hank II). Ok, yer right. A 4 part on just LS. WTF was I thinking!?!

Skynyrd Forever, Forever Skynyrd!

Someone did do a special on the history of Southern Rock -
well-I thought it was a pretty comprehensive look at it.

Aired Sept.28 , 2003 on PBS-Scorsese did it- a 7 part series Called the Blues.
Here is a link I found so you can look at it.
If you haven't seen it, I think you should. You can thank me later lol-

@LynSkyn1981:

Man ,theres a lot of Gene haters on here.He's not the only one to make money from this band.I've seen his documentary and read his book.The video is cool because a lot of people may never be able to go to Jacksonville and see where the band grew up.The baseball fields where they played as kids.The old race track where they would sit , perched in trees outside the track and watch the race.The youth center where they once played. The Little Brown Jug.The little store Claude Hammer owned , who was the inspiration for Curtis Loew.It's like a personal tour of their childhood.It was worth the money for me to see it.Now as far as people making money off of the bands name,that would be the modern day 'Skynyrd'.The band now is pretty much a cover band.How much longer will they run the band in to the ground.Gary is the only one left now and God forbid anything happen to him,I'm not so sure they wouldn't replace him and try to keep touring as Skynyrd.The real Lynyrd Skynyrd band ended in 77'.The music didn't die,and it never will but when Ronnie died the band died.Everything since hasn't held a candle to the original band.I think it has gotten to the point now where it is actually taking away from Ronnie's memory and the Lynyrd Skynyrd name.I don't think Ronnie if he were alive,would be touring as Lynyrd Skynyrd if he was the only surviving member but all of these replacements are right now..I think the Tribute Tour was a really good idea.At least there were several original members still in the band then.I don't think they should have kept going.So don't just put shame on Gene , there is plenty to go around.
