Guitar Player Openings For Lynyrd Skynyrd Band

Gary Rossington is the only surviving member of the great Lynyrd Skynyrd Band. Rickey Medlocke is pretty damn close to original, but he ain't. He's a fantastic guitar player, and definitely knows the Skynyrd guitar parts, but he won't live forever either...same goes for Sparky. To keep the band going forever and ever, somebody has to play the guitars, bass, keys, percussion and vocals in the future. Johnny Van Zant is the best I've heard so far to replace Ronnie Van Zant, besides ME, but he can't live forever. This is just a suggestion: Have a contest to see who knows all the intricate Lynyrd Skynyrd guitar parts to all the Skynyrd classics. There are many die-hard SkynHeads out there, but we need THREE who'll be more than happy covering these classic Lynyrd Skynyrd tunes until the end of time, or at least their time here on Earth. They should have a contest, something like American Idol & X Factor (MINUS Slimy Simy though for freakin' sure).
I was thinking, and it hurt, to possibly include a poll in this suggestion, but...NA. This is not necessary really, but everybody should be introduced to Lynyrd Skynyrd music at a relatively young age, like I was in the summer of 1975. It was the best thing to ever happen to me in many ways...and I GOT THAT RIGHT.

It has gone on long enough. They most certainly should not do any more lineups after Gary, Rickey and Johnny are gone. Ugh.

@raidersfan: You know, I thought exactly the same way on October 21st, 1977. I never bought another Skynyrd record until First...and last. album in 1978...??? Anywaze, after FINALLY getting to see, AND HEAR, Gary, Rickey, Johnny & crue belting out some fine Lynyrd Skynyrd classics down CasinoRama way last May, and seeing the fans, young and old, I started thinking different. After arguing with younguns about Skynyrd, I thought WHAT'S THE USE? If kids love Lynyrd Skynyrd then, and some sure did, and they love them now, what would be stopping them from loving this band in the future? NUTHIN' The Beatles have BeatleMania Bands, Neil Diamond has "Nearly Neil", who's friggin' great also, and all the artists who cover acts like KISS on tribute records, or the Eagles, why not a band as awesome as Lynyrd Skynyrd too? Personally, I liked Johnny better when he was in The Johnny Van Zant Band, and I get shit steady for thinking this way, he's doing a great job with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Not small shoes to fill by any stretch. I understand your point of view though, but what will it hurt eh...ya'll?

Without Gary Rossington there should not be Lynyrd Skynyrd band name used.

but John should go on with brother Don Van Zant if he gets back on road
with Van Zant title or a new band name like J a c k Z o n e F i l l or something ? and play skynyrd along with all there other tunes from 38 and Van Zant

life aint easy for a boy named Sue. J Cash.........

Thank You Lynyrd Skynyrd for the music!

Well I saw the original band over a dozen times in every configuration except with Ed King playing bass. I am fine with tribute bands playing Skynyrd music and the songs are great and will live on. I am not fine with some entity using the Skynyrd name that includes no members, this is not Molly Hatchett.
