The new Album is great and I like God and Guns both for the music and the lyrics. The change in pace of music is great and to me it shows the band have moved on as most people do over 30 years and progress, howver its also fine for them to write about their basic beliefs and that is they enjoy hunting and protection in their own homes.

I am from the south but the south of the uk and my neck is red but the red pride of the Wales where I am from. We like hunting and carry shotguns but hand guns are band. If you read the guys opinions it based upon be proud of your faith and your country and enjoy your self on your own land and carry a gun there if you want. Be different if you walk around New York with a gun in your belt and I dont beleive they stand for that. When Ronnie Van Zant sang saturday night special he was a kid and a 20 yr olds songs are going to be different to when your 50-60 , so all good and all skynyrd.

I have bought the CD today. My first impression: 30/70.

30% of the songs are ok. 70% is avarage crap, sounds like being put together of about 20 other LS songs out of the last ten years.

The CD is quite what I have expected and confirms that BP was the very last link to LYNYRD SKYNYRD.

Picked it up on 9/29/09 the release date. Got the 2 CD Limited Edition Set!Gave it a good listen. It is obvious they recorded this album without Billy Powell (RIP). Most all previous Skynyrd songs have great guitar solo’s, good lyrics, and keyboard solo’s by BP. Unfortunately, most of the songs on this album are missing the keyboard solo’s of BP. Peter Keys must have joined the band after most of the songs on this album were recorded. The songs have a bit more country tune than what I was used to from Skynyrd, but none the less very good stuff. You won’t be disappointed Skynyrd fans! Gifted Hands and God and Guns show Skynyrd is alive and well!!!. Saw them at the MN State Fair, they played "Skynyrd Nation", they were awesome!

On a side note, my wife and I got our permits to carry a pistol 7/28/09 and I am an avid hunter and have shotguns and rifles. I absolutely love the song God and Guns. Please politicians do not take our God and Guns from us!!!!

Man...you gotta listen to the new record again...God & Guns makes absolute sense...listen to the lyrics...and watch the podcasts... the guys exp. the songs, lyrics etc. We're all entitled to our opinions but...geez...you are in the Skynyrd Nation...I'd watch my words...there's plenty of other places you could visit...how about China? Maybe Africa? This may not be the right place for you...

=LynSkyn1981 said:@LittleBrownJug: maybe you should return your copy and get your money back...

No I won´t. If I only could get my favorite band back.

Honest: I´m spoiled by RVZ´s LYNYRD SKYNYRD. And I´m happy that Gary´s band is still touring and playing the old fantastic tunes. But the remaining LS sound of the new band has passed with Billy Powell.

@LynSkyn1981: I am still floored from reading some of these posts! I can't believe that some would come on a FAN CLUB site and spew venom. Why are so many of the die-hard fans having to defend Skynyrd's new music?????? If this album and the Skynyrd era we are in now bothers some of these people so much, then why don't they find a new band to follow. All I can hope is that the current members don't read some of the postings. To me, the new album reflects the heart and soul of the band.

Ain't nothing sweeter than a Southern girl!

I think it's an awesome cd-for those who don't you are entitled to your opinions,
But why you'd think anyone on Lynyrd's fan site would agree with you escapes me.
It's always fun to start an argument, isn't it? How childish.
I tell ya what-you can do a better job than they did-go for it.
ronnie would be proud of all the Music they've created since 1977,and he'd be happy to see that Lynyrd Skynyrd is still around,in my opinion.
I've been their Fan since 1971 too. This is a Great CD. now they need to Tour it-AGAIN lol
we can honestly say we saw the God N Guns tour before the CD came out !I saw them in july and it was so good to hear new stuff in addition to the favorites.
This CD has really nice material, and please guys if you can do better than Lynyrd Skynyrd by all means-let's hear it-

I ain't Hidin' from nobody, Nobody's hidin' from me
